Master Data Management Lead

Location: Philadelphia, PA

Source One is seeking a data management professional to support our procurement consulting firm based in Willow Grove, PA. A qualified candidate should demonstrate understanding and expertise in classifying and managing large data sets. This role requires a unique blend of research, data entry, data manipulation, organizational skills and logical problem solving.

Our clients engage us for guidance, expertise, and solutions to help transform their procurement and supply chain groups within their organization. One of our firm’s growth areas has been data science, including spend analysis, e-procurement, and procurement department “health” metrics.
  • Spend Analysis is the practice of reviewing a client’s expenditures, suppliers, general ledger and other sources of information in order to classify their spending habits into category structures (taxonomy).
  • E-Procurement is the facilitation of bid collection using an online platform. This includes collection and analysis of data from Source One’s proprietary e-procurement site, WhyAbe.
  • Procurement department “Health” metrics are the collection and analysis of internal and client data points intended to track the performance of a procurement organization.

We’re looking for an individual that understands the importance of a master data set, understands to challenges of redundant, inaccurate, or misclassified data, and is able to take ownership of large datasets spanning numerous clients and procurement tools. The ideal candidate will have the ability to research what data means and draw conclusions on how it should be classified, as well as being able to create organizational structure of datasets back into a master data repository. 

Candidate Qualifications
Key responsibilities
  • Cleanse & categorize data sets into our proprietary procurement taxonomy
  • Extract, Transform and Load (ETL) master data. Manage and process data files (in Excel, Access, etc.) for interfacing departments with respect to master data.
  • Manage the proper and efficient importation of new data into internal and external datasets
  • Review, research, and understand supply markets and supplier capabilities, technically and geographically
  • Build and maintain business rules for future automated classification
  • Manage multiple, large datasets and periodically perform mass data updates, as necessary
  • Coordinate with IT / analytics teams to identify and implement process improvement solutions
  • Initiate corrective action to address issues or discrepancies in the data collection and/or data processing practices
  • Understand database management best practices and develop data quality standards and data control sets for data in motion and data at rest.
  • Perform data quality assessments and root cause analysis; develop charts, graphs, and tables.
Required Qualifications  
  • Bachelor’s Degree or higher
  • US Citizen or Lawful Permanent Resident (Green Card holder)
  • Demonstrated understanding of tools used for data transformation, including but not limited to Excel
  • Technical and functional knowledge of data transformation project including planning and execution
  • Familiarity with procurement processes and strategic sourcing principals
Preferred Qualifications  
  • Bachelor’s Degree or higher in
  • 2+ years’ experience in professional services, consulting, procurement, strategic sourcing, database management, specifically spend analysis and e-procurement platforms
  • SQL experience
